Winter

Someone told me once I remind them of winter

Beautiful but cold harsh dark Breathing me in froze their lungs My skin made their fingertips ache

But you you love winter How gently the snow falls like the flakes have nothing better to do than drift down to kiss the earth And the way the darkness can’t grip the world, not really, because the clouds hang low and heavy and drench us in a half-light And everything is magic

I never thought about how soft cold could be How easily ice melts turns to water folds to whoever is warm enough to make it want to thaw You make me want to thaw
